- Drive SOUTH along motorway A1 Milano - Roma
- Exit motorway at Firenze Impruneta
- after the toll booth take immediate first right signposted Siena and Poggibonsi (dual carriageway).
- take the exit for Poggibonsi (called Poggibonsi Nord).
- Follow San Gimignano signs and proceed for about 13Km.
- Just before the walled town, turn left at the roundabout following signs for Volterra.
- Proceed along this road for 700m and then turn the second left signposted Montauto.
Proceed down this road, then turn the second right at the sign for La Buca di Montauto.
- Follow the unsurfaced road, and pass by a small bridge.
- Proceed straight along the unsurfaced road, and bear left into the entrance to the estate La Buca di Montauto.

- Follow Siena signs.
- In Siena take the dual carriageway Siena - Firenze in direction to Firenze.
- Take the exit for Poggibonsi (called Poggibonsi Nord).
- Follow San Gimignano signs and proceed for about 13Km.
- Just before the walled town, turn left at the roundabout following signs for Volterra.
- Proceed along this road for 700m and then turn the second left signposted Montauto.

- The nearest airports are Pisa and Firenze, approximately 70km to San Gimignano.

- There is a regular bus service linking San Gimignano to Poggibonsi, Siena and Florence. Bus links from Poggibonsi to San Gimignano are very frequent.

- Poggibonsi is one of the nearest railway stations; from here you can take a bus to San Gimignano.
